A closer inspection of the Wand's wide-angle
emission surfaces (see image notes) reveals that this Wand is
easily capable of prolonged 400 nm discharges, which is nearly
unheard of in Wands with a quantum hex index of 2 or above!
But even the casual observer will not fail to see the craftsmanship
and care put into the making of this Wand. The Walnut is finished by
many years of use to a mirror-smooth sheen, which lends the
Wand an almost magical glow.
As with all Type II tools, this Wand's name is dictated by its shape.
Prospective buyers unfamiliar with Second Kingdom should know that
this particular Wand's name is pronounced (approximately, of course; the
actual buyer will be given the precise pronunciation) as
'Ollisfane' which may be roughly translated into your English as
'Peeks Around Obstinate Corners.'
Let us look now beyond -- or, more precisely, above -- the Wand.
No Type II implement is complete, naturally, without at least one
Rune of Warding. With the Wand Ollisfane, you will receive
not one rune, not two, but three!
Each ward-rune is carved of the same Red Oak that forms your Case,
and each retains an active Ward (which is of course completely
and utterly undetectable here in your universe).
Reading, naturally, from right to left, we see that the Second Kingdom Wards say:
OLLAWAT -- Concealment, hidden refuge.
BOLLANT -- Stealth, quiet creeping.
SHATHAN -- Light, shadows banished.
As an added layer of protection for Ollisfane, each Ward is backed by a
dwarf-silvered mirror, which acts as a deterent against would-be wand
thieves by preventing grasping spells from latching onto Ollisfane.
The Case is, naturally, compliant with all Type II storage concerns. The hinges
are hand-carved oak, and the feet are made from the same Black Walnut as Ollisfane.
The avoidance of any metals in the Case is typical of all Type II implements, as
residual magic tends to earth itself (often with disastrous results) through
metallic conductors. In the case of Ollisfane, the walnut feet are specially ensorceled
so that they conduct any stray magics slowly and safely through the Case and away.
Also worthy of note is the unusual configuration of Barwind's Effective Accumulator,
shown to your left in a close-up photograph. Ollisfane's Accumulator is one of the
rare instances of a non-linear Accumulator design found in a Type II wand. Constructed
of solid dragon-fired copper, this version of the ubiquitous Barwind device grants
Ollisfane a hex-to-null ratio of 4 -- Merlin's own staff rated a mere 3.2!
